  1. In my original post I was questioning only getting 22-23w out of my 50w MXT575. I was able to have my radio tested by C&M Communications. On my Pyramid P59KX (5/7amp pwr supply output was 23-24w. On his power supply reading 50W on the MXT.... Guess who just bought a decent pwr supply! Thanks to all the original replies. 2. Another vote for Comet CA-712EFC. Was using a Tram1477-B. The Comet is much better.
  3. I submitted this to Midland tech support with no response so maybe someone here can give me some opinions and/or suggestions. My Midland MXT575 is powered by 13.8vdc Pyramid PS9KX power supply. Testing with a Surecom SW-33 meter and 50W dummy load, the best output I can get is 22-23W on various channels. I know you will probably never get the full claimed power output but less than 50% ? 4. I could hear you through shaw butte. Feel free to call me 929.363.1675
  5. They are up I'm hearing their frq identifier, time stamp an wx report just fine
  6. ok again new at this does this meanI tx on 16rp w/ tone and rx on simplex 16 no tone?
  7. Would that mean i need to hit my MON key and open the squelch?
  8. I am tx on RP16 but new to this and dont know what "CSQ" means (sorry)
  9. I have set the tone (or at least I think I have) when I key on the repeater channel it indicates a 06 code 82.5 for the diamobd point575 with a rx freq 462.575.
  10. I lve in a heavily treed mountain area of Payson/Star Valley, AZ. I can hear lots of people talking on simplex and repeater channels and have asked for a radio check many times with very little respone. I have tested with a Radiodity 5w and Midland 50W at 7.5miles (no line of sight) with a an excellent results both on repeater ch and simplex. Base antenna is a Tram 1477-B dual band 6db (43" fiberglass) roof mount approx 20' high. My SWR is very poor at 2.6/2.7 and pwr reading of only 22w using surecom 33 meter. I doubt switching antennas will help my pwr situation but will going with a 3db antenna help my "FARS" ?
  11. Got my GM-30 set, now going program the MXT. Thx
  12. I have not ye tfigured out how to reply to individual answers to my question, so a thanks to all who have helped me. to WRUU653, "Puddle Pirate" is a sarcastic name for the coast guard (served from 1969 to 1975) as well as "shallow water sailor" it's taken in good humor
  13. Actually, I can see the repeater tower, line of site approx 6 miles. All info on that repeater does not list any tones. So, I'm confused.
  14. Does that mean I would transmit on CH 16rp, then have to listen on standard CH 16?
  15. Completely confused Newbie here! I recently purchased a MXT275 and Radioddity GM-30 and am trying to connect with the Diamond Point Repeater near Payson, AZ. Info indicates the freq 462.575/467.575 (no tones indicated). I hear strong tfc on CH16 (MXT) and RPT-2 (GM-30). I also receive the repeater indentifier both voice and morse code on both radios. Should I be transmitting on CH 16rp (MXT) and RPT-2 (GM30) and would I (assumming someone hears me) be answered on the same channels as I'm transmitting on? Thanks, Tim WSAC215
  16. Well that explains it! Thanks
  17. Having a problem with measuring SWR. Using the adjustment knob will not let me get to the "SET" mark. With th slightest turn of the knob it will either peg clear to the right or left. I have a Midland MXT275 connected to Midland MXTA25 3db Ghost antenna. The meter is a ASTATIC PDC2. Any thoughts? Worked fine with my old CB's.
