On that Radio You Can NOT Change or modify Channels 1-30 and Channels 117-125 They are Preset that way
Using Chirp to program Channels after channel 30 will save all when you upload to the radio
You can change Some Settings But some reset to Default setting
I understand you can't tell the reliability
Just going by what My FRS Radios do Which is a total of 5 City Blocks One in the Apt. and one I take outside
I was just wondering If my new UV 5G's Would at least Double the Distance with the 5 Watts
Where as the FRS Radios are 2 watts or Less
These are certified GMRS radios and are Sold in Pairs
Programing with Chirp is ok But can't Change channels 1 through 30 as They are preset
Here's the question
How far will they go on simplex I live in an area where there are Big Buildings within the city ?
I've heard Mixed reviews on the Revis 97s mostly good and a few not so good
But for what I want to use it for I think it would be perfect Especially if the Kit itself is less than $500
I'm New to all of this
Me and a few Friends Go camping in and around the Tri-State and there are Repeaters in nearby towns But we get weak signals I figured if they made a portable How far of a range it would extend
I have a question
Are these portable Riveris or midland repeater sets worth getting if I'm using it for family outings such as Camping ?
they cost less than $1000 and I've seen them come with an antenna and 50ft coaxial only thing I see missing is a tri-pod to mount the Antenna onto
I'm Kinda new at this as well And according this site there are 485 Repeaters in the Tri-State alone
But if you include the Entire Eastern Seaboard , There's 1248 repeaters Listed on this site
From as far North as Rhode Island all the way South to Florida
I'm Mapping out the the whole Eastern Seaboard and there is 1248 GMRS Repeaters From as far North as Rode Island all the way south to Florida
That all 17 states on the east coast
I just got my license as well just last week
I have two Baofeng radio's a BF-UV10R and a UV-5RA that were given to me for my birthday Back in November
I'm just Learning to program the radios manually without Chirp Which I find out is the easiest and Fastest way to program these radios
I travel the Tri State area and I'm in CT traveling for Work I live in the Bronx
Would Like To see A repeater Near Stamford That I can Probably Reach when I work in CT
Heck Maybe one near port Chester as Well
Just putting in My 2 Cents
