  1. I apologize, I spoke to soon. I'm still missing something. I'm trying to program in the following repeater in Wisconsin [ Yes, we are going walleye fishing!] Not understanding which cells I'm putting in those Input and Output tone Freqs. Here's the details for said repeater from the maps section: Eau Claire 600 Albertville, WI Frequency 462.600 MHz Output Tone 103.5 Hz Input Tone 69.3 Hz
  2. Thank you Greg. EXACTLY my point. I'm getting pretty good at Chirp, [watched many of the YT vidz] but I too, am unable to to find that programming distinction. Grrrr
  3. Doing some summer traveling and programming in some repeaters for the states we will be traveling thru. I have noticed that some repeaters will have a different INPUT tone and a different OUTPUT tone. Did the Google and YouTube thing, only to confuse myself even more. While in CHIRP, how do I program these different input and output tones? Thank you all so much. Todd
  4. I might suggest getting Chirp next software. It's free and it helped me to program my Baofengs. You'll need a programming cable to connect your radio to usb port on your computer. You can get that cable here: https://brushbeater.store/products/pc03-programming-cable I would also suggest this video on Chirp programming: This helped A LOT. hope it helps you as well. Thx.
  5. Congrats! I too recently got my license. I would get The Guerilla's Guide to the Baofeng. Lot of get info in there on programming and how to make your own antennas, etc. Some security stuff too, like how to do digital transmissions with your Android tablets. https://brushbeater.store/products/the-guerrillas-guide-to-the-baofeng-radio-authors-verison
  6. Was interested in purchasing the TYT TH-9800D for summer travels. But before I but it.... I have read that the newer version of the TYT TH-9800D does not work [tx/rx] with all GRMS channels. A very knowledgeable friend agreed with that. THEN, i read that you can unlock the TYT in the software. And another knowledgeable friend stated thah it will work [tx/rx] on all GMRS channels. Can anyone clear this up for a nube before i pluck down a couple of hundred $$. Thank you in advance
