  1. I have a few of the Boof Wangs, they are ok, got the td-h3 and really like it its small like the uv-5r and i like that but has alot of the newer features of the bigger radios. I ordered a Wouxon KG-uv9x im a little worried I won't like it due to the knob on top for channels but I am sure it will be fine just like all the rest of the gmrs / ham radios. Best one will be the one you like using, only way to figure that out is to buy them all.
  2. Give or take 980. It has 999 memory spots. 1-22 programmed as reg channels then 23-30 are default repeater channels, but you can keep adding more with tones until you have 999 total channels.
  3. Use a 3m Double sided tape on the entire base, then clean the roof and stick it down with good amount of pressure. This is the same stuff they use to affix badging from the factory and most trim on cars. Might affect your range however but it would keep it from moving. Otherwise look into getting a bracket to mount with. Search Amazon for this: 3M Exterior Attachment Tape
  4. Windows machines will always flag it as a virus, unless they decided to get WHQL certified with Microsoft. You can set a rule in your antivirus/windows defender for chirp so it will stop telling you its a virus. 3rd party antivirus will work the same as well, but normally its better then windows defender as they will identify some programs as safe just not certified with Microsoft, but t hey will allow to install without issues in some instances. BitDefender is really good, and there is a free version it's probably the top rated AV and its free unless you want all the bells and whistles.
  5. Nope, that don't work on my win11 pc with a UV-5G Plus even with the new chirp update from 3/22/2024. What I posted earlier will work. Select Baofeng, and GM-5RH Will work.
  6. OK i'll eat crow, you can use Chirp Next to program the uv-5g plus now. I just tried again after reading this post, and there was an update. Model is still not listed, however, i plugged radio in turned vol all way up and selected Baofeng and model GM-5RH and it downloaded the radio. I then uploaded a hundred channels and confirmed they were in fact on the radio. It doesn't make it able to transmit on non gmrs channels, or unlock the radio per say, but much easier to program then the cps software with no copy paste.
  7. I got the same file name as you did. Baofeng_UV5G_Plus_CPS_1.1.9_20231205 make sure if your in windows extract all first before running the executable. Some times there is an issue running from inside a zip file. Hopefully one day soon they will add this to chirp, the Baofeng software is all but useless. You can't even copy paste rows you have to enter everything manually per cell, just as easy to program on the radio honestly. EDIT: Also make sure if your running anti virus it don't quarantine it as well.
