  1. If I'm on a handheld and my wife is at home with a radio, I say "Mobile to base" after our call sign. But, I'm old and set in my ways. Now, get off my lawn.
  2. This channel works well! Very nice folks are on it too.
  3. I've gone to zello.com/NAR700 and got a 404 screen. In the Zello app I searched both "NAR700" and "Notarubucon GMRS 700 Repeater" to no avail. Either I'm totaly confuckuated, or something is wrong here. Either way, I'm awaiting a response for approval.
  4. Please send me a link to this book with all of the answers in it. TIA
  5. I'm beginning to understand "some people."
  6. It should be pronounced, " Man, you all." eh?
  7. Fact is, you're correct. I mistakenly set this up in a truck. Not that it's an excuse from re-reading the manual, but I checked around the radio by feel for a similar port to no avail when trying to use the software.
  8. No, they did not. They haven't had the best communication with me, unfortunately.
  9. I'm using a Nagoya NL-770G antenna on a Nagoya RB-MJPL mag mount base. I've successfully set up 2 repeaters in my area. The stronger of the 2 has responded to my request for a radio check, stating that I was " coming in a 5" I'm taking this as a win.
  10. It's the smallest things that fix the biggest problems. WRXR360 correctly suggested I use the PC input on the opposite side of the KG1000 from the microphone input. For this, I thank you WRXR360 very much. I simply didn't see nor feel the rubber cap over it. Of course, it has "PC" imprinted on it. (Duh)
  11. The LEFT side? Okay, that's a new one for me. It could just be the issue. I'm going to fire up the truck and the KG1000 plus and try this out. Thank you much!
  12. I just may give Chirp a try. First, I've got to verify whether or not I've got a driver issue to begin with. Thanks.
  13. I selected port 3 correctly. I then began a new file and was warned of it doing so. Then, I attempt to "read" the radio which is when the connection, on/off warning pops up. If I detach the cable from the laptop, the port 3 selection goes gray. BTW. I've assigned different ports up to port 9 to the bridge to the same avail with the exception of port 2 which would stay grayed out as a selection.
  14. This appears to be a "driver issue." The CP2102 USB to UART bridge controller was downloaded, installed and verified as working yet, I still get a connection error message. So, as of this moment unless the Windows 11 Gods miraculously connect wherever they're not connecting, I'm unable to program this relatively expensive radio without a whole lot of messing around with the microphone keys whether it's a base station or not. Newbie that I am to GMRS, I'm familiar (although a bit rusty) with installing various items within Windows. I just can't put to words (without using nasty ones) how infuriating this is. 30 plus years after Windows is commonplace, it's still a PITA to utilize.
  15. I've resolved to changing this to a base unit. Constant back and forth to my vehicle to try this then that then another thing is just too much for me.
  16. It is my understanding that this radio isn't Chirp compatible yet. Once upon a time,(199?) I had no problem with this type of driver issue in Windows. I'm totally confused as to why these issues exist nearly 30 years later. Anyway, my quest continues.
  17. I am seriously wondering if this is worth all of this.
  18. It identifies as CP2102 USB to UART bridge controller but, still doesn't read or write to the radio which is turned on.
  19. The link provided by buy2wayradios for this software (which isn't available from Wouxun's website) has 2 seemingly identical zipped files. I'm told one is for 64 bit Windows and the other is for a lesser version. I've installed and uninstalled both versions as they said my Wouxun cable was NFG (my laptop recognized it) or the radio was off (it wasn't) when I tried to read or write to the radio. Have I now screwed up my laptop, or is there an answer to my ills? Thanks in advance. WSBY419
  20. A blue screen pops up for either version reading, "Microsoft Defender SmartScreen prevented an unrecognized app from starting. Running this app might put your PC at risk." There is no option from there to open the program/app. If I go to the hard drive, it only allows to uninstall the virus program. I don't want to take such a risk as I may not be able to reinstall it as I forget passwords. Quite honestly, this is becoming far far far more of a hassle than it's worth to me. I'm not used to laying down nearly $1,000.00 only to be at the mercy of a Chinese piece of software.
  21. I've downloaded the zipped Wouxun KG-1000 plus programming files (there are 2) from the 2-way radio site using my windows laptop. They seemed to open but, they disappeared once I executed the 2nd file. The totally useless Wouxun website didn't even offer the programming software for this radio. Instead, I had to click the "other" button from their selection. This got a chat window to pop-up. Needless to say, it was automated and is supposed to send me an email with an answer to my inquiry as to why they don't offer programming software for one of their most expensive GMRS radios. In the meantime, I'm unable to program this (what is now a POS) radio until at least Monday and probably much later than that. If any of you can assist me with getting the software downloaded, installed and actually working on a windows laptop, I'd be grateful for it.
  22. Then, it's ubiquitous! undeniable! Un, un, un.... okay.
