Happy New Year to all. Received a set of UV5G Plus radios. Appears all GMRS frequencies are factory presets. I do hear chatter although when I push PTT no one appears can hear my communications. Notice there a channels with an offset +5, for me to connect do I need to change settings on RTCSS / CTCSS and or repeaters. Thanks in advance for info.

Thanks Steve will set the radios to scanning mode throughout the day, hopefully as you made mention someone will come up on the net.

Steve, yes I do hear and pick up HAM radio operators traffic, along with all NOAA weather stations. Using GM-15 Pro which all frequencies are preset. Assuming just not many GMRS operators within my community area or out in the outskirt of town.

Hello, Is there somewhat magic "lol" in establishing communications with both GMRS repeaters and or operators in the central Texas area. I have inserted repeaters via both Repeater.com as also MyGMRS frequencies and hearing nothing at all despite line of sight. Any assistance greatly appreciated, ya'll have a wonderful day!

OffRoader do both allow you communicating effectively assuming one provides greater range and or distance?

Also anyone recommending a good GMRS mobile radio setup for a jeep, including antenna attachments.

Hello, Are there any GMRS operators having success with repeaters in the Central Texas area? Having gone online, input several of the repeaters for communications and achieving zero success rates with any communication traffic. Have even switched antennas as per some YouTube videos. Hopefully will gain some insight for anyone hitting local repeaters and or GMRS mobile operators. Thanks in advance!

Greetings, debating which budget radio would provide better reception and setup for a jeep. The BTECH GMRS-20v2 which can be programmed via CHIRP on IOS or the Radioddity DB20-G which not capable from what I view non CHIRP compatible. Unless a handheld can be attached via an outside antenna to facilitate reception, any suggestions are welcomed.

Running onto same issue on a Baofeng UV82 despite the video posted on YouTube radio, will not unlock? Anyone have any other tricks to accomplish unlocking radio.

Programmed a UV82 Baofeng radio with GMRS-FRS-MURS, local repeaters and HAM frequencies. Only monitor HAM frequencies when scanning, does the UV82 have capability in transmit & receive GMRS channels or solely HAM, Hear lots of chatter on local repeaters although not much if any for GMRS understanding dual frequency capability for UV82 radio.

Can both ham frequencies & repeaters, also GMRS frequencies & repeaters be installed onto a UV82 radio

FOr the UV15 Pro does it matter if selecting a DIY or any number repeater number on radios frequencies. Or best selecting an empty channel to save and then go thru the process to set CTCSS and RTCSS modes to communicate with repeaters in my area.

Thanks assuming reason could not connect and communicate via repeater, although do pick up traffic here in there based on line of sight in areas.

Which radio is a better deal debating with wither Baofeng UV-5G 9uv-5x) or UV-5R. Although really considering Wouxon KG-805G and Wouxon-KG905G.

After numerous YouTube videos, finally came across one which explained easily repeater setups. Failed to understand step of deleting channel, followed by memory channel 3X to save, receive and transmit. Now I'm on repeater book manually inserting repeaters!!!!

Ok guys, appreciate all the insight provided. Gain all the programing on CHIRP and a happy camper, somehow I delete yet had a copy on another computer. My next questions is attempting to add repeaters and if not provided a plus or minus how do you figure out what to place. Also notice some repeaters have a DN assigned number while others may have a offset, so confusing.

Luckily I sense I can clone one radio to the other, viewing frequencies and repeaters were maintained for 1-radio. In your experience is there any particular radio GMRS and or HAM you favor. Thanks in advance!

Steve appreciate, however the repeaters and or frequencies are deleted. Sensing are the generic ones coming with radio. On CHIRP only the first frequency is displayed. Will contact the manufacturer directly, thanks again.
