Make sure the programming cable is Baofeng, I tried to use my wouxun by mistake and it failed everytime I tried to read the radio. I use either Baofeng GM-5RH or Radioddity UV-5G Plus, as my selections in Chirp

Use Chirp. Using the Baofeng programming cord that came with my radios. 2 different ways to connect to the radio. #1 select the com port (Typical), then select Baofeng, Then Select GM-5RH for the Model #2 Select Com Port, Select Radioddity, Select UV-5G Plus I have programmed my radio both ways
