Thank you Radioguy7268 I do like the response. This is the 40 foot pole I have bought it a few years ago for my second place in upper Wisconsin I bought it for a TV antenna but still no reception so it’s just laying there. I have all the Guy wires and all. I will be mounting it 50 feet from my house in SE Wisconsin and 60 feet from the electrical overhead wires. This is a spring project. I like it because one man can lift it up no equipment needed to lift it. It is very well made. https://www.solidsignal.com/pview.asp?p=H40&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cse&utm_term=h40&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI-p6h2rjO5gIVUfDACh1nRQdOEAQYAyABEgJRbvD_BwE
I assume you are all on board to get the DB404. I’m going to place my order after the holidays. I would like to thank everyone that responded what a great community we have here. But please keep responding will not order until 1/6/2020.
The following is a line of sight calculator for both VHF/UHF. This will not allow you to calculate around hills, metal and thick vegetation. But if you’re wondering how far you can talk. One important factor that is missing is wattage of each. https://www.easycalculation.com/physics/electromagnetism/vhf-uhf-distance.php
I’m thinking of a new base antenna. The ones that I have in mind are as follow. If you know anything of them let me know I will mount on a 40 foot pole. I’m only doing GMRS. They range from $190 to $900. Do you own any? I live in Wisconsin so I can pick up the first two but the third I would have to pay shipping. https://www.shopwiscomm.com/DB404-B-Commscope-Omni-Exposed-Dipole-Antenna-450-470-Mhz-59-db-P5783211.aspx https://www.shopwiscomm.com/MFB4605-PCTEL-MAXRAD-Fiberglass-Base-Omni-Antenna-UHF-460-470-Mhz-5db-P2179087.aspx https://www.solidsignal.com/pview.asp?p=1151-4n
Wiscomm.com of Wisconsin has them in stock and will program. The Radio is $291 call for pricing on programing. Link to VX 2200 45 watt. https://www.shopwiscomm.com/-Vertex-Standard-VX-2200-UHF-450-512-Mhz-128c-45-Watt-Mobile-Radio-P3164976.aspx
I ordered 2 BTech GMRS V1 from amazon. Both were defective both were sent back. I replaced them with 2 BF-F8HP ordered from Amazon also ordered a Surecom SW-102 Meter. By metering both found one at high power at 4.3 watts and the other at 5.1 watts. This time I sent back to BTech now waiting to receive them back. But the good news is that if I get them back still not up to close to 8 watts I’m still under the 30 day return to Amazon till Jan 31 2020.
