Received one recently as a base station, and I have yet to make a contact with it. It took some programming to remove the random tx/rx codes. I have a few local repeaters that I should be reaching with an edfong j-pole about 15 feet up outside. Pretty sure I have the correct tx codes and I can hear conversations like they were right next to me. When I ask for a radio check I hear nothing...ever. A bit frustrating as Florida is flat terrain. I'm a noob so I gues I'm missing something.

In need of assistance - from my home in Debary most traffic is on Grant that I hear clearly but I have yet to get a response. 40 watt radio with Ed fong j-pole about 15 feet up. I have a basic understanding of tones but to no avail. Same deal with all other locals - Deland, Deltona, Ft Drum etc. Yes I am a noob. Thank you.
