  1. Nice! Ive been hoping for more gmrs people up here, it's practically radio silence on the peninsula except for spernard builders supply or the odd snowmachiners with a rugged radio. So where are you on the 19 or 20 travel channel debate?
  2. Anybody have on of these? I'm taming a small amount of land in alaska and I have it pretty well beat it down, but now I need a yard/garden tractor and I just can't stop checking these toy dozers out. Also I think the diy dozer might make good content for my new youtube channel.
  3. In alaska, fisherman and boaters hail and monitor on 16 and just keep it short. 13 and 9 are used mostly by harbor masters and are usually pretty quiet.
  4. As a commercial fisherman I have been monitoring 16 on marine vhf for 30years and like the idea of a gmrs channel to monitor for "hailing and distress " so 19 it is for me. WRFU 414 standing by on GMRS 19 in Alaska. Although I'll still be scanning to.
  5. The video talks about lineA but what about lineC? Must we in the frozen north continue the debate?
  6. I found if you put a rubber band around it to hold it tight to the radio,,,it works
  7. Mine doesn't work with my uv82hp it just says data failure all the time
  8. Nice to see more Alaskan people here I'm down in the kenai area
  9. So do we have any more reviews on the rt97 yet? I've been looking around at building a repeater but this is a pretty handy size
  10. What's your terrain like? Have you scouted out a location ? Are you guys building or buying a repeater?
  11. Thank you gentlemen, now I just need to pick a antenna. I didn't think it would cause a problem but I'm still a bit new to the gmrs thing so I figured it's best around first.
  12. I have a 8' marine style made with a 4g cell booster on my cabin and I'm wondering if I can mount a gmrs base antenna up there also. Any thoughts?
  13. I see there is a repeater listed in anchorage but i haven't made it up there from kenai to see if it's still up and running yet.
