  4. Found u have to change the date to 2000 in order to program wide and, otherwise it will only do narrow band. Mine is working great. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  5. You could buy a small 7-10 dB Yagi (dual band) with a small rotor and can control the direction with no issues. Make sure u buy Yagi for use on gmrs crews or trim it accordingly. Sent from my SM-T357T using Tapatalk
  6. A little more info would help. I just got my 7000u, but haven't had time to program yet. Will try this weekend, but don't expect problems. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  7. Don't know about a "kit", but I bought a solar generator ( lipo batery) and a 100 watt panel to experiment. But had to leave and put my small system in storage. Hope to pull it out next year and see how it functions. I would think any system with the right amount of batteries and solar charging capability should work fine. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  8. I haven't started my own thread, but thought I would chime in anyway. I have done something similar(Testing purposes) I have 2 Kenwood Tk862-G radios and 2 Baofeng FP8HP. I bought a chinese duplexor and a radiotone controller. I original had it set up with the Baofeng, without the duplexor, I got about 3-4 miles with 2 HTs next to each (Problem with radio sensitivity) I have already programmed up the 2 TK's, but am awaiting pl259- to - N connector adapters. This will allow me to run them through the cavity duplexor and radiotone controller. This was mostly designed as a test. I also have a Motorola GM300 repeater, but it is in the states in a box awating me to come home and setup. My antenna is a TRAM and I bought a seperate Jpole for testing. I am interested in adding the chinese duplexor and 2 Baofengs to a Pelican case that can be hoisted up into a tree and see what that range would give.
  9. I think if it was me it would be 20 meters. My 2nd choice would be 40 meters.
  10. Thank You PastorGary. I am already enjoying the boards....
  11. I have a couple and use them on occasion, but of the Chinese knockoffs, I prefer the Uv5R. Having said that I just took a look at both and mine on High are holding at 3.25 watts. Low power is .98 watt. There is another one that I saw on fleabay that purports to have 8 watts transmit power. I am down in Argentina at the moment, but when I come home for summer vacation I want to try the Radio Tone Duplex to see if it will pass the GMRS freqs. I have one and it works great setting up a temp 2 meter VHF or 440 UHF repeater for amateur radio use. The Li-Ion batter in it gives you about 24 hours sometimes longer use without power which makes it great for emergencies, however don't know if it will work on GMRS freqs....
