  1. That worked! Okay I'm a bit of a newbie to repeaters. When I setup any repeater, I should always only fill that into the Tx CTCSS/DCS and leave the Rx tone blank?
  2. Radio Wouxun KG-935G There is a repeater nearby that I used to be able to hear, however as of late I can "see" transmission on the receive signal gauge on my radio but I can't hear anything. The incoming signal is very strong (according to the scale), but there is not sound (no static nothing). Squelch is set to almost the lowest setting. Volume on the radio is all the way and I've made sure the repeater tone is correct. Thoughts?
  3. Yes...in the car. I think this is it. I've found on various channels if I aim the antenna in specific part of the headliner it happens. Could be the satellite or GPS antennas interfering.
  4. It wasn't in my house, it was while driving on an interstate highway near Albany, NY. I've never had the issue while in my house.
  5. I have my GMRS radio scanning all GMRS/repeater channels on my radio. My squelch is set at about 5, but I keep receiving a pretty strong signal on channel 19. All I hear is static/white noise when the transmission is coming though. what could be causing this?
  6. I recently installed a Midland MXT275 in my wife's Jeep. I set the MXT275 on channel 6 with CTSS privacy tone 2. I then programmed the privacy tone into my Wouxun handheld to test range. I was about 2 miles away in town and my wife was back in our development (I had the Jeep she had the handheld). I was able to receive and transmit to a neighbor using a cheap Walmart FRS without any problems. Despite being able to hear me loud and clear from the Jeep, I couldn't hear any transmissions from my wife (who was using the handheld). I'm confident I programmed in the correct CTSS code on the handheld. Any thoughts what might be causing my issue?
  7. So when I transmit to the repeater, I do get a series of beeps back. Does that sound like I'm successfully making it to the repeater? I also don't quite understand the advantage of setting up the receive tone initially. What advantage does that provide?
  8. Thank you, you bring up an interesting point. How do I know if I'm "in range" of the repeaters I program? I'm I just listening to see if I hear any conversations? I have tried to transmit a "radio check" using my call sign, but I have yet to receive a response.
  9. As a new GMRS licensee, I'm starting to program some repeaters in my Wouxun KG-935G using the Wouxun software. When setting up repeater channels, most repeaters listed on myGMRS list tones as input/ output tones. In my Wouxun software it lists TX (transmit) and RX (receive) tone settings. I'm trying to wrap my head around this and by doing so I think I'm confusing myself more. Rx tone= repeater output tone Tx tone= repeater input tone Is that right? Or is it the opposite?
