  1. To everyone above who helped out, thank you, your suggestions worked great! All the DIY channels are reset as are tones! To summarize your suggestions for future forum browsers: an RAR ZIP file is available from Baofeng as the UV-9G download above. You'll need to download something like winzip to open and edit the file, but once you're in it you can change all the parameters then read/write to and from the radio. Thanks again all.
  2. Back4 and Borage, Thanks for replies. So, I don't have reason to think the cable is a counterfeit, it came in an Abbree pouch, fits the radio, has a "PI2303 Chip" tag, and a Baofeng label. But how else could I determine this? Next, Chirp doesn't seem to support the Baofeng GMRS 9R (right?) Other threads seem to suggest trying other profiles such as the UV 9R, UV 9G. Those haven't worked. Ideas? WRQW213
  3. Hello all, we're new to the radio community. Picked up a used Baofeng GMRS 9R and programming cable at a Hamfest. Chirp is giving me error messages: "Error reading data from radio:not the amount of data we want". Looks like the radio is quite full of channel presets. Is there simply a factory reset to either return the radio to some default GMRS frequencies, force Chirp to download to radio without first uploading from radio, or clear the channel presets altogether? Thank you all for building this community, it is really an asset for us newcomers.
