Got a question - is something up with the Baraboo650 and the Devil’s Head Gmrs repeaters? Are they down? I’m currently on a camping trip at Devils Lake and I noticed that the repeaters are somehow not opening when I’m pressing the PTT and transmitting my callsign, and I’m also around 10 min away from both repeaters so I know I should be able to hit both repeaters, even if it has a lil static (bc of the forest I’m guessing). I did also notice that the Baraboo650 is both on the map and on the search result, but Devil’s Head isn’t on either. Also mind you, I did hear radio traffic on Devils Head and Baraboo650 a week or so ago, so Ik I should hit the repeater and hear it kickback. I did also program the repeaters correctly since I’ve used these repeaters last year (and I check the myGMRS website to see if any updates happens to any of the repeaters I use weekly). Radios used: Motorola XTS 3000 and Radioddity DB-25G mobile.

Just starting out & having a lot of problems understanding the GMRS lay out in CHIRP. I have MANY hours into this so far trying to find answers lol For instance, when a repeater gives you the input & output tones (either the DPL or Hz format so far), CHIRP does not make it easy to understand where to put these settings in their generic GMRS format. I'm also not sure if other defaults also need to be changed according to if it's Hz or DPL tones. It's VERY frustrating. I really don't mind putting in the time & effort for this but you when bang your head so much, you obviously want to stop...and my head is getting sore. I'm not a quitter though. Please, if you have time...some time...ANY time, this poor newbie needs help! ANY ADVICE! LOL Thank you in advance! bob@bpps.net -
Anyone can help me program my radio uv-5r the correct way to work with my local gmrs repeaters and tell me how do i know if it is working thanks

Hi guys, I'm a newbie when it comes to 2 way radios in general, I've done a lot of reading educating myself and I have learned a lot, The first thing I did was to get my GMRS license, here is the deal... I have a pair of vertex 160u that I use to communicate with my daughters (too little for cellphone plus is more fun) when I go to the grocery store or to my uncle's house located about 1.50 miles away from my house, the radios work well. I just bought a Kenwood 805d to get a little more range but I need help choosing an antenna , power supply and any connector and cable I may need, if you guys could help me with some advice I would greatly appreciated. I know is not going to be easy, that is what makes it fun. Thank you. William.
