WRXD746 Posted December 6, 2025 Posted December 6, 2025 Quick question: I’m waiting on the last few parts needed to stand up my repeater for the Spring Hill/Columbia area. Has anyone ever used the Auto-ID function for their repeater or have you just left it alone for everyone to follow the call sign ID procedure? WSDV406 and WRUC846 2
WSDV406 Posted December 7, 2025 Posted December 7, 2025 Hey there @WRXD746. I split off this question into it's own post since we try to keep the new member check-in post pretty stream-lined to .......well, new member check-ins. I'm sure you understand . That said, who can help 746 in his repeater setup quest? WRUC846 and WRXD746 1 1
WRUC846 Posted December 10, 2025 Posted December 10, 2025 i can only help to try and test it when its online WSDV406 1
WRZC825 Posted December 18, 2025 Posted December 18, 2025 Personally, I would just leave it off and use the honors system where each user announces their call sign. WSDV406 1
WSLK262 Posted February 2 Posted February 2 Is the Auto ID for the repeater itself? The repeater needs to identify itself every 15 minutes, no? SteveShannon 1
WSDV406 Posted February 2 Posted February 2 @WSLK262 -- I've never set up a repeater but I assume the OP is referring to an option regarding setting up their own repeater (rather than using a local repeater to tx/rx on). I personally play it fast and loose with governmental "rules", but if you're one for -- we'll call it "proper radio etiquette" -- announcing your call sign once every 15 minutes (or just every so often "for identification purposes" is considered common practice. Does that help?
