GaDalek Posted November 20, 2018 Report Posted November 20, 2018 Flying to NY state next week and will be driving back. I want to bring a HT in case of emergency while on the road. Will the TSA allow a HT in your carry on? Thanks in advance. Quote
KPSchmidt Posted November 20, 2018 Report Posted November 20, 2018 I've carried ham HT through TSA numerous times without difficulty. They did check the antenna on one visit. Quote
WRAF213 Posted November 20, 2018 Report Posted November 20, 2018 I've never had problems before. TSA uses radios so they know what they are. Quote
RCM Posted November 20, 2018 Report Posted November 20, 2018 You have to remove and discharge the battery, and place it in a different bag. j/k! Quote
GaDalek Posted November 20, 2018 Author Report Posted November 20, 2018 Thanks for the info. Did not think it would be a problem but you never know anymore. Quote
Logan5 Posted November 20, 2018 Report Posted November 20, 2018 Never had a problem, never even had to pull them out for inspection. this included HT's, antennas, headphones and scanners. I have even watched the screen when the bag crosses, looks fishy to me, but they never notice. Now my vape pen, that they want to inspect. lol pantherpaw9 1 Quote
mcallahan Posted November 20, 2018 Report Posted November 20, 2018 Never had an issue with radios in carry-on baggage, pre and post 9/11. Quote
