krvw Posted February 20, 2020 Report Posted February 20, 2020 One of the things that appeals to me about GMRS (vs. ham) is that family members can lawfully make use of my license (WRFC318). Now, my question is this: When a family member is using it, how should they identify themselves? Say, for example, I'm talking with my wife over the local repeater. I sign in/off using my call sign, but what should she use? WRFC318-2? Cheers, Ken Quote

Durake Posted February 20, 2020 Report Posted February 20, 2020 how should they identify themselves? WRFC318-2? Hey Ken, what berkinet posted is a great resource. Myself I usually will just give the callsign that way they don't have to worry about it. I'll simply call them by their name rather than a unit number. But either or is acceptable. shaine Posted February 21, 2020 Report Posted February 21, 2020 A local family here will give the call sign and then “green fox this is chicken fox. Come in green fox.” The other daughters are little fox and baby fox. I like the idea of using phonetic initials, although it would not work for my brother and me. We have the same initials. In that case we might be Sierra 1 and Sierra 2. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk RCM 1 Quote
