Question about connecting to a repeater for the first time

Hi all,

I decided to get in to GMRS before I get in to HAM.  I have a question about connecting to a GMRS repeater.  Once I get permission to connect to a repeater, the information on it says that the frequency is

Radio setup

Output:  462.575 MHz   141.3 Hz Input: 467.575 MHz   141.3 Hz

On my radio (Midland MXT275) I set the input to the correct repeater channel (in this case 16rp) and then simply add the CTCSS tone and i'm good to go?  Or is there more to it?  Sorry for the dub newbie question.

In your manual, in the back, there should be a chart with the ctcss codes and their corresponding numbers in your radio. Set the tone to the correct code (I think it’s 22 in the Midland radios) on your channel 16rp and you should be good.

What is the output frequency for then?  Is that what the repeater broadcasts on?

Yes, the repeater will be transmitting on the 462.xxx frequency -  and that's what your mobile radio will be listening to.
