PastorGary
As you all know from reading my unofficial Weather Advisory last Friday and seeing reports on TV, there have been many casualties and deaths in several Plains States as well as in Mississippi and Alabama since Saturday. One of our own, moderator William, "spd641" - lives in an area of central Alabama that was hit hard Monday by numerous super cell storms and many, many tornadoes. We have not heard from William as yet after these deadly storms went through his area, so if you do pray, please keep William, his family and all others affected by these terrible storms in your prayers. Thank you. Pastor Gary ================================================================================================

PastorGary
UPDATE: I was finally able to reach William in central Alabama. He and the family are OK - they sheltered and also were assisting with emergency communications. They finally got back home around 3 AM today. His power at home is off and on, so he's going to get the generator running so he has basic power for the house. The last wave of storms is firing up in Louisiana at this hour and will be back in the same areas of Mississippi and Alabama later today. Our thoughts are with everyone who has endured bravely in the face of these monster storms and we pray that they are spared any additional losses. Billy
Prayers and well wishes to him inbound. If there is a need for anything please let us know so we may assist.
PastorGary
At this time, the primary Help Agency in all states affected by the storms since last Friday is The American Red Cross. If you are able to assist financially, please click on the link below. Red Cross first responders are VOLUNTEERS, but they need funding to supply basic humanitarian needs to victims who have lost family members and have lost everything that they own - and that's where you, the general public, can help.... http://www.redcross.org/

PastorGary
Thanks to everyone... William's power situation is still not 100 percent... Hopefully this will be resolved by the local power company soon.

Guest spd641
I am back after the much needed rest the last 2 days.I appreciate all the thoughts and kind words from eveyone.I will say this was too close for comfort this time as the destruction was at the top of the mountain about 500 yards behind my house.I did spend 2 days manning the radio at our EMA office and had my family inside the EMA office with me even though my wife wasn't to keen on the idea of going with me but she did and brought my mother also. I went through the area today to pick up my son who is with the county rescue squad and they were looking for the body of a 15 year old who drowned when he fell from a boat this morning just outside the area of the tornado damage.I drove, I would say, 5 miles before I could no longer see any damage but seeing buildings gone I have known for years and the people's homes destroyed saddened me but thank the good Lord there were no fatalities even though several of the homes were occupied at the time. I worked a drowning last week with a neighboring ARES group from the next county who called me and asked for my assistance and I thought I should go since they asked for my help in which I contacted our local county resuce squad which also assisted in that search,so it has been a busy 2 weeks and hopefully after this current tragedy is over things will get somewhat back to normal. Everyone have a good week and a better weekend and be thankful for what you have since it can be gone in a matter of seconds,be safe and careful...William Logan5

PastorGary
ADD ON May 12, 2014 We have also been concerned for the safety and well being of our member Jeremy M... Jeremy lives northwestern Florida - in an area close to where 22.7 inches of rain fell in 26 hours (Pensacola area). We finally got in touch with Jeremy this morning and he is fine... just extremely busy in the aftermath of the storms. He'll be back here as time permits.
