WRKH748 Posted October 4, 2021 Report Posted October 4, 2021 Brand new. Have 2 repeater capable radios and would like to speak with someone in my family via use of a repeater. Confused on the receive vs transmit ctcss/dcs tone. I did a repeater check once i set my receive tone to CTC. Do both radios need to have the same settings for both the channel and the tone? And do both need to have both the receive and transmit tones set the same? Quote
WRHS218 Posted October 4, 2021 Report Posted October 4, 2021 For both radios to operate through the repeater they will both need to be on the same repeater channel and have the correct tones for RX/TX as per the repeater set up. Sean PB30X and WRKH748 2 Quote

ron505 Posted October 10, 2021 Report Posted October 10, 2021 You don't have to use a receive tone unless you're getting interference on the receive frequency. With it turned on you'll only hear the repeater that's transmitting that tone. and nothing else. If you're not getting any interference, simply turn off the receive tone function. You'll still hear the repeater, and any other radio traffic on that frequency. Quote
