jgnelson
Fairly new to this. Testing my repeater connections with Midland MXT275 and BTECH GMRS-V1. I can hear conversations on both, but when I key up and talk on either and speak I cannot hear my TX, others can and I can talk to them, but I cannot hear myself. IE TX on 275 I cannot hear myself on the GMRS-V1. Kind of puzzled by this.
jgnelson
Think I got it. Its cold, I'm inside (so are antenna), squelch is set high and its filtering me out because of the static.
mbrun
I suggest that your issue is that your two radio are too close together and you are experience desense. The frequency one radio is sending out to the repeater is adversely affecting the ability of the other radio to successful capture the repeaters output frequency because of the level difference between the two. Separate your two radios by about 100 feet and more and then try again. This is a common issue. If affects all RF receivers to various degrees. The better the radios receiver design, the lesser this issue becomes.MichaelWRHS965KE8PLM jgnelson, WROZ250, SteveShannon and 1 other 3
OldRadioGuy
Yep, Mbrun is right, but you may need a lot more than 100'. Try getting something metal (vehicle, metal shed) between you and the nearby transmitting radio. You may also try using lower xmit power if that's an option on your radio. It's a common problem.
