liahju
We plan to install three repeaters on the same frequency in a triangular geographic location approximately 25 miles apart. All three repeaters are of the same type. Motorola GR1225 10Watt. Question : What problems would this type of installation bring to our Repeater and the other Repeaters in the area? Will we be violating any FCC guidelines on GMRS? . We would appreciate your opinions.
WROZ250
The correct answer for given the information is it depends/can't be answered with any accuracy... Are they all using the same power, antenna & height above the ground? Basically are you talking about site configurations that mirror each other? Doubt you are violating any FCC rules here in any event. Can't really offer anything but unqualified speculation without more information/detail. liahju
gortex2
I did a similar design in NY. All 3 repeaters were the same output, however all three used a different input PL. I called it a poor mans voting system. There are similar systems in public safety. Actually our SAR system started the same. Same TX/RX all over the area with different input PL tones. All TX was the same PL. Really need more info as said. liahju and WROZ250 1

Realmente no puedo ofrecer nada más que especulaciones no calificadas sin más información/detalles. PACNWComms
All the old tricks are new again, just for GMRS at this point. As gortex said, this is common for radio networks when they are first starting out. Similar equipment at each site, and you end up saving on hardware and maintenance since everything is similar hardware wise. Great way to build out a radio network without getting too complicated, and easier for the hosts of the network to maintain and administer. The Motorola GR1225 is a repeater, and 10 watts is not going to strain the hardware. I still have one myself and tend to use it for extending the range of radios when camping (when I am not hiking everything into the camp), more like "car camping".....the one thing to check on the repeaters is the heat conductive paste, that tends to dry out and then you have hardware problems. Keep the fan clean and give that repeater stable power and good coax/antenna and they should serve you well. Good luck on your installation.....post some pictures when you can too. Last thing to add, is a link to the tropospheric ducting thread, as you may have this happen. with three repeaters, that could get very interesting for the times it does happen,if they are on the same frequency, even with different tones in use. liahju and gman1971 1
