PartsMan
I have a new Retevis RT-98, a very cheap mobile uhf radio, that will receive random "kerchunk" type noises when driving in my Nissan Frontier. It doesn't seed to matter what frequency I use and I have tried two different antennas and cables. Could it just be to cheap? Maybe a ground problem. Truck causing interference? I have it plugged into the cigarette lighter now.
0 JLeikhim
The Chinese radios lack an effective IF FM Limiter stage so they are susceptible to all sorts of multipath induced noise. 0 tweiss3
Pay attention to your surroundings. Could be a video sign at a business, or it could be a Jeep/Dodge truck passing by (they are terrible on RFI). I've seen certain places are bad enough they even pop squelch on my Motorola XPR radio. This sounds more like what I am experiencing. There is an area on my way to work that it is usually bad. The worst part is that this noise is louder than voice from a real transmission so I end up turning my volume down.
