Question

Good morning, guys.

Just finished building a new GMRS repeater out of 2 Motorola MCS2000 radios, everything is working great, except for the PL decoding on the receiver radio, the received radio has a PL code for decoding, but the repeater behaves like a carrier squelch receiver, what am I missing???

Cabling and or programming settings.

Thanks.

You likely don't have the front mic HUB grounded (ie: the radio thinks it is off hook).  Been too long since I was into the MCS2k software, but there should be an "ignore HUB" setting or similar tick box that would work. Or, if your mic jack is open, slap a palm mic in that has a hang up clip attached.

Good morning all of the above was performed, Hub defeats PL enabled, external mike inserted and grounded and also inserted a shorting microphone plug specifically for said purpose when using radios for repeaters, the problem has to be in the cabling to the URI I see a CTCSS input connection on the settings.

Thanks, will continue to search for an answer.
