TimChgo9 Posted April 12, 2015 Report Posted April 12, 2015 I found this on Amazon about three weeks ago. Wondering if anyone knows anything about it, and if it's any good. Apparently it is a 40 watt radio. http://www.amazon.com/Baofeng-BF-9500-Transceiver-Vehicle-400-470MHz/dp/B00RFI8YXK/ref=sr_1_10?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1428809548&sr=1-10&keywords=baofeng Also wondering if something like this could be used as a base station of sorts.... PastorGary Posted April 12, 2015 Report Posted April 12, 2015 After spending 15 minutes in research, I was personally unable to determine if this particular radio has ANY FCC certification. Perhaps others here can expand on that issue before we promote this as a GMRS option. Quote
zap Posted April 12, 2015 Report Posted April 12, 2015 Probably need to find Pofung's guarantee code (though the radio may not be manufactured by Pofung) and search that way. So the catch with the Anytime Tech, Baofeng (now Pofeng) and a few other Chinese radios is that most of them physically aren't capable of the emissions they are certified for. Quote

It is UHF only. Logan5 1 Quote
