License application response time?

Recommended Posts

I just applied for my GMRS license. I had the FRN (isn't that really a Federal Reserve Note?) already since I have another license. Does anyone here have any idea how long it takes to get the approval and call sign?

I just bought a new Kubota RTV and am getting ready to install radio gear so my wife and I can maintain contact with our DAV son who lives with us. I do like the fact that we can all use the same license anyway.

I applied for my GMRS licence on and received my licence and call sign in about 2 business days. that was right around 10/10/2015. Don't know about a paper certificate or anything, i just checked my status on the FCC website and saw it came through.

You can select electronic or snailmail receipt of your license.

License applications are approved overnight on the first business day of the application. A Monday applicant will have their license Tuesday morning. A Friday thru Sunday applicant will have their license Tuesday morning. If you log onto your uls account, you can download a paper copy. All they do is just print the same file anyway. I use a security paper identical to the paper they used to use before they just went to plain paper.

I got my email at 11:07 last night. Now I have the 'official' copy of my license. LOL...

Arrggg.... $$$ I've already bought two more radios in addition to what I already had. Now I'm trying to figure out a practical, low powered portable repeater.

Not sure of your budget, but getting a repeater should be had for $500n or so, though I dropped $800, not including antenna, line and a way to mount it.

I could PM you a contact I have. Not sure if myGMRS has that for guests, though now that you have a license you can get in on the regular site now.

I was just ribbing you on spending money.

Ken - When the software catches up with the FCC database and you decide on a permanent username and can register at the main site and here in the Forum, please let us know what your new username will be.

Thank you.

LOL... I know... I just bought a new Kubota RTV-X1100C and on top of that, it triggered all kinds of 'needs'. I'm sure you understand. Toys...

Thanks PastorGary, I'm NevadaBlue everywhere I go on the 'net. That comes from the Blue Nevada sky that we have most of the time.

I'm sure I'm more trouble than I'm worth. I registered and updated my profile, but the forum wants me to login again and won't allow it. Something about Amazon in the message. I have no amazons here.

Hi Ken,

Thanks for posting about this! There was indeed an issue with linking the forum accounts to the accounts on the main site. For users who were already signed in like Gary and I, this was working fine still. For everyone else, you would have received the error message.

Try to log into the forums again, it should work for you now. Just be sure to enter your real email address during the login process; it will generate a fake one based on your username that won't allow you to get messages from the forum.
