TMCRC Posted October 30, 2023 Report Posted October 30, 2023 The Mesa Crest Repeater has a very large footprint. During my distance checks yesterday, we travelled 482 miles to find our footprint. We began our journey in Hesperia, Ca. Where we traveled to Highway 18 in the High Desert. Heading East towards Lucerne Valley. We had coverage on the 18/Old Women Spring Road. We did drop out when we descended over by the painted rocks. That was when we saw the first Johnson Valley Sign. We then proceeded South on Highway 62 towards Palm Springs. There were some areas where there was coverage on 62 Yucca Valley. At the 62 and 10 Freeway we had coverage. Proceeded East into Palm Springs. At the first exit there we had scratchy Signal. We then turned around and headed West on the 10 Freeway. Whitewater, we had coverage. Cabazon coverage. Morongo Casino coverage. Banning, Beaumont coverage. We then headed South on Beaumont BLV/Highway 79. We had coverage driving down the 79, Gilman Hot Springs, San Jacinto into Hemet. We then traveled West on Highway 74, Hemet, Green Acres, Homeland, Romoland and Winchester all had coverage. We then went South on the 215. From Romoland, Menifee, Greer Ranch to the 15 coverage. We then traveled on to the 15 South. From the 215/15 to Temecula, we had coverage. Driving up that hill we had coverage. When you drop behind the mountain coverage lost. We exited Old 395 and headed west in to Bonsall San Diego where we had coverage. This one depends on the elevation you are at in the hills there. We proceeded West on the 76 to the 5. We had some short coverage there. We then proceeded North on the 5 Freeway. We had some coverage there at Camp Pendleton San Diego. In San Clemente we hit a couple spots with coverage. We then exited Highway 1 the Pacific Cost Highway where we traveled Northwest. Coverage doesn't pick up till you get closer to New Port Beach. From there you have coverage into Long Beach. From Long Beach Up to Marina Del Rey, coverage was lost after that point. From there we headed towards the 14, where we traveled into Palmdale. Coverage didn't pick up until we got closer to Phelan. From there we had coverage all the way back to Hesperia. Next Weekend we will be conducting a Repeater Check in the High Desert. Where we will travel the 14 North to Tehachapi and then head East on the 58 where we will check Barstow. We will then travel the 40 East towards Arizona. Quote
