coryb27 Posted March 13, 2016 Report Posted March 13, 2016 From the looks of where you live I bet a huge GMRS repeater would be vary useful for the surrounding community. Do you have a lot of operators in your area? How are the public communication systems? Quote

I'll be in Anchorage on Monday 5/6, I'll give ya a shout when I'm site seeing. Can't take any of my CP's or HT's other than my Garmin and BAOFENG. Everything else is being programmed, and being tuned by a friend of mine. Would be awesome to see how his DROPBOX would work up in those mountains.. Have a few friends in Fairbanks too WQXP640 Quote
Logan5 Posted June 6, 2016 Report Posted June 6, 2016 Anyone in Alaska use gmrs radios any clubs or websites you could use a scanner, to efficiently scan the entire GMRS/FRS/MURS bands. I am sure Alaskans are not all Ham lic. yet I know they use radios for point to point comms as well as community announcements. Don't be surprised if you find more unlicensed than licensed users. Not an issue I would push in Alaska. Yes, with a strategically located mountain top repeater, You and other licensed users could achieve hundreds of miles of point to point coverage. Quote
