So I just got into GMRS but there are very few people chatting on those frequencies where I live (Coral Springs) and work (Fort Laderdale, Citrix building at Powerline / Cypress).

I would love to chat with someone on my way to work (usually around 10am-noon) or after work (after 7-8pm).

Is there anyone here I could reach who wants to chat with me and help me better understand how to use the radio correctly? Explain the etiquette when on air, etc etc?

BTW a kind gentlemen on this website granted me access to Coral Springs receiver. I wasn't sure I configured it correctly but managed to chat for a short bit with someone around 6:10pm yesterday (April 1st).

Hi Martin,

I'm new to GMRS also. I've had my liscense for a while but haven't used it until now. Just got a new radio and haven't talked to anyone yet so I don't even know if I'm getting out. Give me a time and a channel and let's see what happens. Thanks, Dale WRDW850

IF, you are using gmrs for what is is ment for you would know if you are getting out since you would be using your radio with friends and family while going an activity.   Gmrs really isn’t for chatting with randos.    Might wanna try ham for that.
