ULTRA2 Posted June 12 Report Posted June 12 Just wondering if Inverted tones can be used on GMRS? Do you recommend it being used? Quote
Hoppyjr Posted June 12 Report Posted June 12 Dunno, but Mav got inverted once and saw a MiG close up. GP62 1 Quote
OffRoaderX Posted June 12 Report Posted June 12 If you are referring to inverted DCS/DTC/DPL tones, then, yes - they are standard on virtually all GMRS radios. If you mean something else, then, i dunno. Quote

ULTRA2 Posted June 12 Author Report Posted June 12 Another question I want to ask everyone is that if you own a repeater can the repeater be programmed to use inverted tones also? I got a project going on and I want to make sure i'm doing it right so that's why I'm asking the expert Quote

"can it?" - Depends on the repeater "may it?" - yes, it is allowed by the GMRS rules. AFAIK, there are no rules/guidelines on what tones you can or cannot use, but there are standard ones, which inverted tones are. Further, there is no advantage (none that matters in the real world, for most people) to using inverted versus normal vs DTC vs CTC .. SteveShannon 1 Quote
WRYS709 Posted June 13 Report Posted June 13 Digital tones are, like all digital media, represented ultimately by 0s and 1s. An "inverted" digital tone, is the same tone, with 0s switched to 1s and 1s switched to 0s. Quote
ULTRA2 Posted June 13 Author Report Posted June 13 Thanks, guys, for all the useful information. Quote
