Anyone Familiar With the TIDRADIO TD-H3 Radio's? Having a rough time getting everything setup. Used CHIIRP to program a few repeaters and change names into it. and it worked great, no problem. It then needed to be charged so i turned it off and plugged it up to charge it. When i turned it back on i noticed it wasn't hitting any repeaters anymore, but all the Channel names and frequencies was correct. so, i looked in the Offset and noticed it was back to default. Locked, couldn't change it. I then re flashed the CHIIRP list again, no go. everything from the offset to the Direction is also locked. So i factory reset it back to default, same issue. everything is locked and unable to change anything. In CHIIRP it's showing that it has the Offset's set and working. but the radio is not showing them on. I'm sure i did something wrong, but for the life of me i can't figure out What.

I have programmed a few of these radios, both the H3 and H8s, for people and not with a lot of success.  It is strange that some of these radios will program and a lot of them will not program at all. Unfortunately, for the numerous owners, they have become a real disappointment because for some reason they just will not program with the App or Chirp.  These radios are not worth the trouble and a waste of my time, they are a real cheap POS radios and should never have been allowed to be imported. I have stopped programming this brand of radios for people anymore.

C'Mon people, stop buying this junk and wasting your money. Do you really think that a 2 pack of radios for only $50 is really of any quality? Get smart quit wasting your money. Stop getting suckered in on this kind of cheap stuff. Buying cheap is never cheap.

These radios seem to be the worst of the worst.

Some of the people I tried to program their radios did get a different brand of radios and I did end up programming them. Others just gave up and they have lost interest in the hobby.

The one I had did. I was probably in VFO mode on it. I hate TIDradios, so I didn't have it long, but I remember having to set both direction and offset.

I picked up a UV26 after dealing with my H3 and it was a major pain.  Took me quite a while to figure out how to make it work on a repeater.  The H3 is simple, you just set the frequency and tone and go.

I have 16 of them and use the computer CPS and OD Master with no issues.  Very simple radios to program.

I have added the direction and the offset on both radios and nothing is different. I appreciate y'all and will check back in a week or so to see if there are any other things to try. I am frustrated right now.

They're all simple to program. It's the janky hardware and cheap(est) components inside that I didn't care for. I actually get the best performance out of BF-F8HP Pros and 5RM Plus/Pro GPS units (especially the v1.0.4 hardware).

Can you get any simplex calls to work right on them at any distance? I'm not far from you if you're in Muncie - I'm over towards Anderson and can reach the WRAM repeater without any problem on an HT. But, with all the snow and ice around here, range has definitely been reduced this last week. A few times I can only get to it near a window or outside when I could do it inside before all the snow arrived.

I did hear somebody trying to connect to it last week a few times, can't remember what day though. It was in the evening and I heard some 5-8s transmissions, but they had no audio and were just silence + repeater tail.

Agree, they are relatively simple to program and I wasn't having any difficulty in using those two programming applications. The problem was reading/write to/from the radios. For whatever reason, the were several radios that were not cooperating like the radios I did have success with.

"Worked once" appears to be the common theme here and is probably due to a manufacturing defect.

A lot of TD-H3's  shipped with batteries that have a serious charging defect, where the battery management system fails to stop charging, sending 15 volts to the radio which is double the normal operating voltage. It has been strongly recommended to charge the battery separately from the radio to prevent permanent damage

Note that the charge status LED of a defective battery may or may not turn green when the battery is fully charged. You can determine if you have a defective battery by checking the voltage at the battery terminals BEFORE removing it from the charger after charge completion or 6-7 hours of charging, whichever comes first. If the voltage is above 8.6 volts, the battery is defective and should not be used.
