Anyone Familiar With the TIDRADIO TD-H3 Radio's? Having a rough time getting everything setup. Used CHIIRP to program a few repeaters and change names into it. and it worked great, no problem. It then needed to be charged so i turned it off and plugged it up to charge it. When i turned it back on i noticed it wasn't hitting any repeaters anymore, but all the Channel names and frequencies was correct. so, i looked in the Offset and noticed it was back to default. Locked, couldn't change it. I then re flashed the CHIIRP list again, no go. everything from the offset to the Direction is also locked. So i factory reset it back to default, same issue. everything is locked and unable to change anything. In CHIIRP it's showing that it has the Offset's set and working. but the radio is not showing them on. I'm sure i did something wrong, but for the life of me i can't figure out What.

So doing a Factory reset, going to GMRS only, and uploading the Radio to CHIIRP shows the normal channels. I then took a Suggestion from on here and went to channel 31 (Blank) And programmed my Freq, And Repeater name, tone direction, offset.  saved to radio. Radio's freq and names are in the radio. But the Tone, Direction, and offsets are not.

How are you determining that they aren't there? In my experience with the TD-H8, which is similar in many ways to the H3, you can't go into the menus for offset direction and offset and see that they are set. They aren't editable in channel mode so they just show none for direction and o.oooo for offset. I know mine is set correctly because I can hit the repeater and I can read the program into Odmaster and see that it's what I programmed. Also, when you hold the PTT button, the frequency displayed for the channel changes to the transmit frequency. I don't like it, but that seems to be the way it is.

Is it set to GMRS mode? This radio has GMRS, Amateur, and Normal modes, right? I wonder if your reset switched it to amateur, or normal mode when you had previously been in GMRS mode.

I left my original 30 GMRS channels set as they come from the reset without tones.

Then I set up any specific repeaters in their own channels with their CTCSS or DTS tones and _5 offsets in channels after that.

have not had any trouble with doing it that way.

Program the tones manually.  You can't program the names without an outside program.  I use OD master using Bluetooth.

CHIIP was used to change the names and offsets, and so forth. As they wouldn't allow me to change them inside the radio manually. All worked fine, until i turned it off to let it charge, and when it came back on my off set, and + - was removed. and unable to be added back. even after a Reset.

You know what's interesting is i have tried all 3 of the modes and tried programming it to work on any of them. just to see if that worked. but was plagued with the beep noise when you tried to change any offset , or duplex i believe is what chiirp calls it.

I'm not trying to insult you with this but when I first got my H3 and was trying to hit a local repeater I was using the wrong PTT, the upper PTT is channel A and the lower PTT is channel B and it doesn't matter what the A/B selector is on, that might get you if your used to other radios with a single PTT

Was this ever solved? I am having the same problem.

What's your problem? I have one sitting right here that I never use; was an impulse buy that was superceeded by other HTs

Good luck boys! I’ve owned 4 tdh3’s and only 1 of the 4 would reach repeaters! I’ll never trust a tdh3 radio again. They come working fine from factory then when programmed for repeater use stop transmitting any wattage. Power test them you’ll see. They won’t transmit but a few milliwatts. tid has big problems with these little radios. If you get one that works hold onto it for life! Cuz the chance of getting another  one that does is slim!

I have 16 TD-H3s and all of them reach repeaters.  7, 17 and 21 miles away.  I've had 2 come in that wouldn't reach a repeater but could talk to each other about 1000 ft away.  Tidradio replaced them at no cost.  And one that lasted about a year before it crapped out, also replaced for free.  The rest of them operate as they should.  It's an under $25 radio with a bunch of accessories.  I think they are a great value.

@WRYS709 I am not able to reach my local repeater (https://mygmrs.com/repeater/9044) I am on 462.650 MHz and have 118.8 Hz set in menu 11 (Rx CTCSS) and menu 13 (Tx CTCSS). I can hear everyone else having fun but when I hit the PTT it screams "CANCEL" at me. I bought another one because I had a spare $25 and no understanding (being dumb is expensive) and it happens on the second one as well right out of the box.

Is there something I am missing? I am new to all of this so I will not be surprised if I am missing something simple.

In order to use a repeater, you must transmit on the repeater input frequency.  In this instance it will be 467.650 MHz. That should be automatically done by your radio when you push the PTT, as long as you have selected a repeater channel.

When you release the PTT your radio will revert to listening on 462.650 MHz.  The difference between 462.650 MHz and 467.650 MHz is 5.000 MHz.  That’s called the offset.
The TX tone (menu 13 TX CTCSS ) is necessary. The repeater will ignore you if it doesn’t receive it. However, the RX CTCSS is under your control. If you have it set, whoever transmits to you, must have it set to match what you have set in menu 11 (RX CTCSS ).  But, If you leave RX CTCSS unassigned, your radio will pass all traffic.

If the radio you bought is not designed to be a GMRS radio, it will probably not transmit on GMRS frequencies.  In that case it might give you the “please don’t touch me” beep when you push the PTT. There may be a way to unlock your radio so it works on GMRS frequencies, but I don’t know what it is.  Unfortunately, I don’t have that model of radio.  The information about frequencies and offsets and CTCSS tones above is true of all radios intended to talk through a GMRS repeater.

Are you in GMRS mode on the walkie talkie?  The H3 has 3 separate modes and you need to be in GMRS mode to transmit to a repeater.  The cancel sound means you are trying to transmit out of band.

I get the same behavior in all 3 modes. It worked once on xmas then never again.

Did you set the offset and direction in the menu? I think it's 23 and 24 that sets these. You'll want an offset of 5.00MHz with a direction of "+" in order to reach the repeater.

You don't set direction or offset on an H3.  In GMRS mode you just set the receive frequency and then the tones.  In the repeater channels the transmit frequency will automatically be +5MHz

The one I had did. I was probably in VFO mode on it. I hate TIDradios, so I didn't have it long, but I remember having to set both direction and offset.
