APRS, D-Star?

Hello.   First thing, please excuse my ignorance as I am still VERY new to this hobby and limited to my Baofeng GMRS V1.   I didn't have much interest in getting my tech ticket but technology like APRS and D-Star seem interesting.  Are services like that limited to the ham community or are there any GMRS options?

Does technology exist that will operate there, yes. However, there is a statement which only allows analog voice communication in Part 95.

Data communications are, however, allowed on MURS.

If you want to play with more than just analog FM, come to the dark....i mean ham side.

Probably more experimentation going on the commercial side right now than anything.
