Baofeng UV-9G

This may be an old topic. Sorry, if it's been answered. The Baofeng UV-9G has been in circulation for a few years now. I've seen the videos that were put out by Notarubicon concerning some "issues". Since then, I've seen some comments made that some of those issues have been fixed. Fast forward to 2024, does anyone have current info as to the up to date UV-9G's, and these particular issues? I have plenty of HT's, but this one really intrigues me. Notarubicon, if you're out there, what's up? You got the ball rolling on this. Have they met your "needs" in the last few years? Thanks.

I have a newer UV-9G and everything was corrected and love this radio. I have several other but this my go to for any outdoor activity. You might need to visit the baofeng website and download the latest firmware for the fixes.

I have several HT radios from many different makers.  I have woxouns and Motorolas and many different boofwangs.  The baofeng uv9 is my absolute favorite radio.   We have many and they go to work nearly every day.   120deg truck dash boards, 20deg snow and rain and left out all night.  All of them have 771 antennas and we get 20 and up to 50 miles.from them.  They have been stepped on by horses and dropped in rivers and left in the mud for days.   All for around $30.  They are cheap enough that if i loose one or break one or one grows legs its ok.  I’ve given many away also if some one doesn’t have an HT.    We use them for emergency animal evacuations for fires, floods or heavy snow.   I have more then 10 and have never experienced any issues what so ever on all simplex channels or repeaters.    They may not be the best but they sure are good for the money.

That's the feeling I'm getting as well. I've read your comments on the Tube. I have other HT's, but you know how this works. Always reaching for something better. Your opinion is well recieved, and appreciated. For the price, it's worth taking a chance on.

I’ve had a couple of these for about two years now. I’ve had no issues and despite being way less expensive than other radios I have they work just as good. None of the bells and whistles but solid cheep radios you can beat up that sound good.

Thank you for the reply. That's exactly what I was hoping for. Sounds like I found my next radio.
