WSAA635
As some of you may know CHIRP isn't reading my AR-5RM radio. It's NOT the cable and I've tried both 5RM and UV-17 Pro with Zero results. The factory program from Baofeng works with the exception of adding Airband Frequencies in the program. I did find out that I can manually add the Airband frequencies to the radio then go into the program and update the name and scan delete so they'll not be scanned when I'm scanning my DPS channels. So, you can get Airband on the radio, it just has to be done manually first then modified after they're entered with the program. Hope this might help someone out who's having a similar issue. NotARubiksCube
Thanks. I was thinking about picking up an AR-5RM to complement the UV-5G Plus's I already have. I live right in the flight line of a nearby airport so airband was one of the appeals for me. So if I understand right, you add airband frequencies manually on the radio, then you can manipulate those channel characteristics in Baofeng's software? It's disturbing that CHIRP isn't working for you, especially considering that CHIRP has a profile for it that they say will work. I was hoping to avoid Baofeng software. My experience has been different. Using Chirp, with the 5RM profile, I first downloaded a stock code plugs from the radio, then added a few air band frequencies and uploaded them to the radio without any problem. I guess YMMV. I have not had any issues with it and I have three of them and they all have been programmed with no issues.
