WRPQ991 Posted October 13, 2024 Report Posted October 13, 2024 Ok, when listening to repeaters I have to push the MONI (monitor) button to hear people, but it gives me an ear full of static. Am I doing something wrong? I've tried adjusting squelch, doesn't help. I'm using it as a base, not mobile. Quote
Guest Posted October 13, 2024 Report Posted October 13, 2024 By hitting the monitor you’re allowing all traffic in at full squelch off. If you’re not hearing the repeater with out this your tones are probably wrong. Quote

WRPQ991 Posted October 14, 2024 Author Report Posted October 14, 2024 They are set right, I double checked.. a few times. they come in kinda fuzzy. But clear with the MONI button Quote

Maybe it’s up too high? It shouldn’t be an issue since you have tones but take a look anyway. Might not be actual repeater traffic your hearing when you push the monitor button? Might just be local simplex or another repeater? The actual repeater you’re trying to reach may be too far away? How far away is the repeater? Does your antenna have line of sight? Quote
Mandrake Posted January 9 Report Posted January 9 I just wrote this to Btech Support: There is a problem on the receive side. Signals have a high level of noise . Understand that other radios with the same antenna and feedline do not experience this. I found by accident that if I touch any of the front panel buttons or some of the buttons on the microphone the received audio become clear and the noise level drops to full quieting. This is repeatable. But it only lasts until the incoming signal stops. The next transmission is very noisy and the audio is low. Until I push any button (like momentarily pushing the on/off volume knob, the scan button, monitor button, or other). Then the cycle continues. Possibly related to the OP problem. Just for the search engines... Quote
