I Need some help, Been around 2 way radios most of my life new I am new to the world of GMRS.  I recently bought a Wouxun KG-Q10G,  I managed to get it to communicate with chirp. I loaded in some local repeaters but when I check the settings on the phone it says repeater, OFF.  I cant change this to on or anything else, so I'm confused.    Also, I am not able to hit any of the repeaters I have loaded.  Any help would be appreciated.

Are the repeaters close enough to hit? With good line of sight.  Woxoun is known to have many issues like this also.

I drove to about five miles of one, and I key up wait for a response and nothing.  I ws wondering if it was because in the menu under repeater it says off, i cant seem to change that.

What do you say when you key up?

What kind of response are you expecting?

Does your transmit light come on?  On most of my radios the light is off usually, green when receiving, and red when transmitting.
Are you on one of the eight repeater channels?

Do you have the transmit tone on your radio set to match the input tone on the repeater?

Might be the same problem this person is having. You can't toggle the repeater function on / off in Memory mode.

Since it's a GMRS radio, are you using one of the baked in repeater capable channels and has it been configured w/ the correct tones on that channel?

I'll give it a sot and see if that works.  I loaded a few repeaters from our local areas here in WA state and got rid of the per loaded ones it came with.

Thanks for the info,

If you're using CHIRP, you'll have to set the offset to +5.00 MHz.

When I bought my KG-Q10G and KG-Q10H, neither was CHIRP-compatible yet, so I used the Wouxun software. It's clunky (compared to CHIRP), but it works. In the Wouxun software, you manually input your Rx and Tx frequencies (in that order, IIRC), so there's no need to specify the offset.

EDITED TO ADD: You can do this from the radio itself, no need for computer programming. The best thing to do is go to the repeater channel that represents the frequency pair of the repeater you want to custom-program, then choose Channel Wizard to walk you through saving the repeater. This will copy the Rx and Tx frequencies from the channel you're on (IIRC), let you set your Tx and Rx tones, and name the channel.

By the way "Repeater" mode does nothing on the KG-Q10G. That's a menu option that is reserved for the KG-Q10H and its crossband repeater function. It has nothing to do with whether or not you're on a "Repeater" frequency.
