UV-82 hp

Just bought a UV-82HP tried to program in GMRS channels I am licensed for GMRS for some reason they will not transmit is there a way to unlock those frequencies or have they made it so this radio will not work?

So you purchased a ham radio for gmrs before knowing if and how to unlock it for gmrs?   All instructions are found online on how to do this.  Once this is done it is against fcc rules to actually transmit on gmrs with this radio.   Hold down the ptt M and # buttons while turning it on.  If that doesn’t work you have a newer radio that is locked down.  You MAY still be able to do it in the programming software.   It’s be thinking that if your having to ask this you may what to get a gmrs radio.

Yup. It's an amateur radio. It won't (...by default...) transmit on GMRS. But with the barest minimum of effort, answers are out there...
