Wouxun KG-S88G problem

WRZX542

Question

I have Wouxun KG-S88G that is having a receive issue, so far only on channel 17. It had been working fine and barely gets used. But, it no longer receives on channel 17 if a CTCSS tone is programmed. All my radios are obviously programmed the same and on channel 17 I use CTCSS tone 225.7, the radio will TX fine to the others but would not receive. I even tried turning just the receive tone off still no joy. On the open channel programmed with no CTCSS tone it receives fine from the other radios. But, with the TX tone Programmed and No RX tone it still will not receive. Upon playing around with it I got it to receive with RX CTCSS tone 229.1 even tho the other radio is TXing with 225.7. I also have another channel programmed, same freq, channel 17 for camp with CTCSS tone 254.1 and the same problem but I could not get it to receive even changing the tone. So far this issue has only appeared on 462.625. Any ideas or solutions?

EDIT: I have even tried restting ang then reprogramming the radio. At first it worked for 225.7 but only form1 time receiving then the same issue arose. For the camp channel it still did not work.

I have had similar occasional issues with this model, the KG935G, KG935G+, and especially the KG905G.  It is as though Wouxun has somehow baked an intermittent CTCSS glitch into many of their GMRS radios.  I have thus far not been able to identify a specific channel or tone where the problem is more constant or pronounced on. All of these radios are now out of warranty, but do work as they should "most" of the time.

Man that’s an awfully expensive radio for working “most” of the time.
