The CB Superbowl (channel 6) is crazy

Look at how much power that first one is putting out; I'm picking up Florida in Salt Lake, and AM, not SSB. Then this guy shows up:

Notice how when he keys up his carrier sweeps from nearly channel 5, swooping up to slightly below channel 6. And you can see two parallel carriers; that's people talking over each other. But that sweep is wild. Here it is again, and you can see the bleed over into 5 and 7.

The amount of power they're pushing, it's no wonder they only shout for a few seconds at a time. They probably have to stop every few seconds to let capacitors load up for the next big drain, lest they cause a brown-out in the neighborhood.

CB is definitely more of a hit your way than mine. I do get an occasional conversation.. GMRS has been the undisputed champion out here. Beating ham and CB.

I occasionally get a guy from Puerto Rico that comes blazing in on channel 9.
