Programming VXR-7000 with Ham frequency?

Question

Posted

Our clinic has dropped its GMRS handhelds, so now we have a VXR-7000 sitting around.  Is there a way to make the VXR-7000 use a ham frequency instead of the GMRS frequencies?  When I try to create a channel with a frequency lower than 450.000 it reverts back to 450.000.  I don't want to just throw this repeater out...  Thanks.  Don, KK7EV.

The VXR-7000 UHF version will transmit only from 400-430mhz and 450-480mhz. Remember that if you change the frequency you will also have to re-tune the duplexer .. but an out-of-tune duplexer will not prevent you from making the change.

SOURCE: I have one and I read the user-manual.

I'm pretty sure you can set up a VXR-7000 for 70cm ham band by accessing the repeater with the PC software in dealer mode (-d option). You can search here on how to do that.

I got into dealer mode (as far as I know; there is no indication in the program), but am still unable to enter a freq below 450.000.  When I type say, 446.000, it still automatically changes it to 450.000.

I did also try CE27WIN /m, and then entered the password: ansho-bango.  Theis put the repeater in "Manufacture Mode".   But I still was unable to enter a freq < 450.000.  😞
