  1. Hey there! Just got into the GMRS at the beckoning of a stellar friend in Texas and want to reach out to see if anyone in or around Manchester, New Hampshire is active! Seems really quiet around here and the one repeater in town seems to be dead so hopefully that doesn't stop too many people.

  3. And while we are on the subject of Repeaters.... Why do people keep listing repeaters that do not exist? Is there some thrill? Aren't they sad or embarrassed when they have to explain it never existed? I don't get it. I've had a private repeater for years, people asked to use it right up until this Spring, when I made it public with new PL's and a refreshed listing. Now...summer activity time...not a peep. People still ask, even request permission even though they don't need it per the listing. Not a peep. If anyone is interested in a mint MTR2000, cabinet and Zetron panel.... she's probably going to be for sale soon. I'll throw in a supposedly good ASP805 & Clamps too (not mounted, currently stored in barn).

    Call sign plaque

I just added it to the screen text on my Radio. In the programming software you can modify just about everything displayed on the screen. Radio: Wouxun KG-935G

    EAST TN Hub

I have a pair of Moto xpr4350's, a quality set of jumpers, cheap controller, Telewave duplexer, 50ish feet of Andrew 1/2" hardline, and a Laird 5 db fiberglass antenna at 20 feet. Covers the neighborhood well, and good for about 3 miles.

    GMRS Enforcement

It is quite and likely possible that they are NOT operating illegally. Many businesses had their licenses grandfathered and so are still operating legally on GMRS frequencies. Now that said, it is also possible they have let their former license lapse. In any event, it is never a good idea to confront whoever you believe may be operating illegally.

    New Node Set Up

I'll give this a try, I know when I used the website to convert to wav I changed it to 8khz, I tried it mono and stereo and couldn't get it to work. Maybe the website wasn't converting it correctly. I'll try it with Audacity next time. There's some other things I'm trying to figure out how to add to my repeater. I'm learning as I go. Thanks!

    New Node Set Up

WAV files work fine, so long as you resample to a 8Khz sampling rate with a single channel (mono) in an audio editing program (such as Audacity); the industry standard 44/48Khz sampling rates don't work. I usually run the WAV route as I fire up audacity anyways to normalize the audio levels with normal radio traffic and apply an aggressive 300Hz HPF and 3Khz LPF to keep things inside of the audible passband of 300-3000Hz (which keeps the PL sub audible band and harmonics clean, since Asterisk can generate audio well below and above the audio band we care about). Exporting an 8Khz mono WAV file from there just saves a conversion step since you're already editing everything.
