  1. Thats great!
  2. How do I get on the Midwest net? I would love to access it from here in Missouri, but I don't know how to do so.
  3. If you go to this link https://wireless2.fcc.gov/UlsApp/UlsSearch/searchGmrs.jsp and input your FRN it should show up, as long as it has been granted.
  4. I'm not sure what the general consensus on the QYT KT 8900D is, or even the QYT brand as a whole. I just got an 8900D and so far I'm liking it, but I haven't put it through to much testing yet. It is definitely an inexpensive unit, and it looks a lot like the Radioditty DB25G. I'm definitely not recommending it yet, as I haven't used it enough to do so, but it's doing pretty good thus far.
  5. 45 miles may be a stretch, but with a 50 watt unit you might be able to reach it. Some of that depends on obstructions between you and the repeater. You can always give it a try! I'm guessing that if the repeater your talking about has privacy tones, it will be CTCSS. Try finding the right repeater channel on your radio and going into the menu to the TX CTCSS option and adding the tone listed (if there is one listed).
  6. Is the repeater that you are trying to use listed on myGMRS.com?
  7. There is a repeater in Seymour, MO (owner callsign is WRWR975) that does not show on mygmrs.com.
  8. Ok, thanks for the insight, guys! I'm new to all this and appreciate the help!
  9. Does this idea work in that scenario?
  10. Ok, another question. My idea here is a simple relay system that I can put in my car so that when I am outside my car with a 5 watt handheld, I can still hit a repeater through my 20 watt mobile. With that system in mind I think I only need a small antenna on the handheld side of the relay. Is it feasible to use a regular handheld antenna on one side and a separate mobile antenna on the other side, and only use the controller box?
  11. Can I use a duplexer to receive signals on a 5 watt handheld and relay them on a 20 watt mobile?

Are you on the mobile app on on a web browser?
  13. I have used my Baofeng GM-15 Pro with an outdoor antenna across about 6 miles of woods and uneven terrain from my house to my brothers house. It worked fine for a few days but we haven't been able to establish a very good connection through that area since. Any ideas on anything that might help?
