no real clue as I jest received it and have not hooked it up yet but I got the wouxun KG 1000 G plus. Mostly fell for the super heterodyne vs chip technology. Probably some will think I did ok others not so much

Sometimes trying to satisfy everything can be frustrating ground shortest most direct route no 90 degree bends heavy wire bonded with other grounds vs antenna cable shortest run no loops lightning arrestor cable it self grounded lowest possible impedance ad astra. the drilling a hole in the block wall is a great idea. now to counter the lateral load on the antenna from ground wire or strap straps being better for carrying load. Good news don't have to get all figured out today and installed tomorrow

well was trying to get shortest straightest ground and not have ground wire drop 20 feet and move 15 foot horizontally and bend over top of block wall

Well for a few more feet of coax I can mount the antenna generally over the ground stake vs pounding another 15 or so feet away.

Does it make sense to ground directly to the Electrical system ground near the power box?

Got mine yesterday, now figuring out what antenna to use when using as a base station. How has this radio been working for you folks? Also any recommendations for an antenna for this beast, planning on mounting the Antenna on the edge of my roof with 4 to 6 foot piece of PVC.

I two am a newbie who just received my Wouxun KG1000 G Plus radio. I am also looking for a base station antenna. I really do not want to set up a long mast, tower or flag pole given the HOA already prohibits flags. Was thinking of something like a 4 to 6 Foot piece of PVC securely mounted to the edge of the roof with some kind of antenna on the top. Is there a decent dual band antenna out there that will work, not break the bank and not need to be tied down with 87 guy wires to keep it from blowing a way. Looking for recommendations on antenna and mounting. That J-Pole mentioned at the beginning of the thread looks interesting.
