  1. Two antennas on the roof for GMRS... one for repeater and one for the base station... how far apart should the antennas be?
  2. I have a GMRS Repeater... How often does my id have to be transmitted over it via "morse" code or voice ID?
  3. Situation: A disaster has occurred where you live and you have no way of knowing how far reaching it exists. You must leave in your vehicle and the only source of communication is GMRS communication for purposes of this situation. You have a mobile GMRS radio, a portable GMRS radio and a mobile GMRS repeater with you. The mobile repeater can only work on what you have pre-programmed into it via a computer and can not be changed for purposes of this situation. Keeping this in mind prior to this disaster you have already programmed the eight GMRS repeater channels, so what pl tones, if any would you have already had pre-programmed for those channels for the best chances of communications? "No way you're going to get MY toilet paper... Nice try.." Nice response from Randy... I must have "struck" something I am unaware of?
  4. Narrow or Wide Band Width During Operation?
  5. Thank you so much for this information!
  6. Interested in anyone having knowledge about the Motorola CB radios produced mainly in the 1970's into the 80's. Specifically of the "Mocat" "Mocat 40" and "Motorola" designations and further, differences in the Model/Catalog in both 2000 and 4000 variations. Also... any id information for dating via serial number, or different means, other than using 23ch. v. 40ch. pre and post 1977... Thanks!
  7. Motorola CDM 1250... so if the monitor function is activated and I can hear everyone without my pl tone and I transmit... I will transmit over my pl tone that is set and others with the same pl tone will hear me still, correct?
  8. If monitor function is activated and you hear all traffic on the repeater channels outside the imputted pl tones, when you transmit with this function activated, will you be able to transmit out on your respective pl tone and will other's hear you if they have the same pl tones?
  9. Pulse Larsen Antenna for GMRS, mobile hood mount on pickup... 3dBi v. 5.5 dB... operating in flat open valley area... much of a difference? What would your choice be?
  10. Would there be much power loss in connecting another 10 foot section of RG-213 to an existing 35 foot section of RG-213 already in place compared to one full section of 45 to 50 feet?
  11. When measuring the height of an outdoor antenna from the ground up, is it measured only to the the base of the antenna or the tip top of the antenna? The measurement is for entering into myGMRS for adding into the height section for a GMRS Repeater.
  12. If one is TX & RX on a Repeater using the same frequency as another who's only on Talkabout (Direct) on that same frequency, can either person TX or RX respectfully with one another if in close proximity? Clarification: Thanks for your responses... part of this question should have been using the word respectively and not respectfully... sorry for the confustion!
  13. Thank you for your comments... Randy... I hoped you enjoyed the show... I love your channel... note, you were not charged admission... lol... love your channel... Steve
  14. Affixing 5' fiberglass repeater antenna with base of antenna 18' off ground on stainless steel L type pole mount affixed just to the 2X6 framing board. 15. I am preparing to activate a Motorola GR1225 repeater in my area and would like input on an antenna recommendation. The antenna will be placed on the end peak of a two-story home approximately 35 feet in height. This is a small residental area in a rural community with a lot of farm land. It is in the Willamette Valley centered between our coastal and cascade range. Generally speaking, this small town has what I could consider a "normal" amount of trees you would generally associate with a residental area. Other than that... the land is relatively flat between the start of our coast range on the west side and start of the cascade range to the east which is approximately 30 miles wide. Thanks, Steve
