  1. Hi, I have a question in the anytone at-778uv. There is no audio during transmission. Just dead key carrier. Basically running transmitting (dead key only) and receiving perfect. I tried it on different channels lower and upper and same thing. Is there a mic gain or a mic mute for this radio? I read the whole manual and there is nothing was mentioned. Any takes and thank you.
  2. That looks like a nice limited edition. Never seen one. Ive seen lots of people advertising they'll do a full recap on the radio. Or if you want, I know a real good 10-11-12 meter (cb included) radio that will really blow your mind. It has everything for less than 200 bucks. By the way.. if you ever watch one of this guys video, it'll take you back and youll get hooked. This guy is using a regular old school cb radio like yours and he can hit almost any part of the world with no repeater, under 40 watts and he make all kinds of home antenna for a few bucks... 15:39
  3. Those old school 29 LTD are really good in modulation. I know someone he was using if for a home base in Long beach just using a fire stick (or Big Stick for home). I couldn't believe I can hear him all the way pass Pico Rivera. Its good to have the old cobra as a backup emergency.
  4. Do you know where and what chrp software they use on AnyTone AT-778UV?
  5. I was watching Randy on Youtube. He knows and owns lots of radios.. I wanna ask him few things about setting up om repeater
  6. Oh cool! I can use that info. Its its exactly the same specs, that's what I want. So that lower spring is just to relieve the tension when driving? The height is not that bad for I prefer short as long as it not live 40 or over. The lower Anytone like the one I bought is a radio in "okay to good" category. I don't know much about GMRS especially the higher caliber radio. But If I was going to pick a CB radio above $250, that is a solid mobile/base, I will pick the "Better to Best" for me like an original Cobra 148 GTL and correctly dialed, or President Lincoln. (BTW: If President will come up with GMRS, 100% I'll buy one anytime) Anyways as what I know in the equivalent of that radio on which I only need dual band: The other thing I wish I can adopt is a separate mic. I donbt like teh idea of having a mic with the controller in it and an RJ-45 socket. If I still have my old radio technician, he would easily do all these for me. On my CB days, He worked on my old cobra radio. I had a superstar 360 and Ranger X9 which is highly sophisticated radio than the cobra. I used all of them for 5 years. I'd pick the 148 GTL than any of the 2. Sometimes its not just features. If you have a good carrier with 40% modulation is just okay. But if I have 100% or more modulation and swinging 1 to 4 db, I'd rather have that. That was the magic of the old cobras that's why they were really popular... at that time!
  7. I think I'm gonna grab this one. They said its easier to tune and it kicks the GMRS repeater like an old fashion alarm clock. There are just 2 nit picks I would like to change if there is a factory option. I don't like the color of the whip and I wish it was chrome or stainless. The 2nd one is the in between coil or extender. Its bad enough it has a spring on the bottom. I hope Laird has an exact match performance in chrome and minimalist whip. If not, its fine.. I'll get it. I'm gonna double check with them if I can use the magna-mount I got from them. It fits like a glove fir my needs. The magnet is really strong, the cable is LMR-195, The connector feels like pro-am, the bottom is rubberized and the connection is brass that fits right on with the Laird whip with the o-ring seal. I hope I get this straighten out today. BTW: I bought an okay mobile radio (AnyTone AT-7xxUV) so I wont have to mess with my other radio and just leave as a base station. It would have been nice if I have the mobile antenna running. But will wait then.
  8. I wanna buy the same one for emergency. Is it a one piece with magnamount?
  9. Is there a way I can attach and use my old D104 silver eagle as my home base mic instead of the factory alien head controller mics? or I'm asking for a miracle?
  10. I used the base station where I bought it. Dxxn.. All the way 9db over 40+ miles! You wouldn't even need to add a kicker...
  11. I have 2 choices.. Get an extra longer whip just like what the the other guy is suggesting. Its .100 of an inch obviously medium cast stainless steel family. Or I return this and get the B4505. which I think sounds better.
  12. is that what the ball is for and nothing to do with global transmission?
  13. Some guy just emailed me from another company about the antenna and he said i need to follow the chart and cut it. I told him not feeling confident doing that in this case. The more I pull the antenna, that's where the SWR is going down. I notice alot of people even experienced ham guys and dealers are having a rough time on GMRS antennas. With the President radio I was able to sweep a Francis antenna no more than 1:4 from 10 to 12 meter which is a very wide frequency. I got it mounted perfect with a spring quick release. Its just too bad, I drive this pickup truck maybe once or twice a year just for home improvement use.
  14. This new base antenna is really good. I cant believe that walkie-talkie can even travel that far. Cant wait to setup my base radio tomorrow for I have to buy a regulated power supply an its a good thing they'll deliver soon.
  15. Yes. It feels like there is something missing like the length of the whip. It needs to go longer which this antenna youre showing is 3 feet vs the one I got was half the length. It would have been a blast. I have owned different antennas from original K40, audio king, wilson of the 80's. The Laird is total craftsmanship! I'll tell them to send me this. I'll ask them if I can use the same magnamount. This thing is smaller than the ones I used before but strong. Stronger than the K40 magnamount.
  16. the reading is 5 and the lowest after adjustment is 4 on SWR on GMRS Frequency. Below the 450 frequency is perfect! 1.02 SWR
  17. I just bought a Laird antenna on magna mount. Its all the way to the red on GMRS. Anything under that frequency is dead on 1.02 It feels like the whip that I have feels short or not design for this. Not enough pull to adjust. However the magnetic base is superb. The cable is LMR-240 with a very strong magnet for its size no wonder its expensive. Any takes? B4503: 450-470 MHz Mobile Base Coil NMO Mount Antenna- Metalic Ground Plane Required
  18. I just got back and picked up some groceries... I bought some extra PL-259 connectors in case if I need to cut the home base coax later on. The antenna is gonna be mounted like right in top of our bonus room. On a straight line is not even 10 feet from my desk. This like some work. I have an old Palomar power supply that I bought in my old CB days. I should recap it next week. I was looking at the newer power supply and It feels so light. That's why I didn't buy a new one yet. Well see whats gonna happen. There's only one way to know if this is gonna work or not. If no, I'll be using a smoke signal for back up.
  19. its a good thing youre here... I'm about to get this. I double measured and everything and I only need 19 feet. So I'm getting a 25 foot LMR-240 and 3 foot extra for SWR meter testing. Here is the lost and what do you think? Just to say... I really want a good line. But in reality, as a former two way radio user.. There's no way I will get this thing squared in 1 shot. I'm thinking I will I'll just go with the LMR-240 and if I got everything dialed then later on I'll get the most promising LMR-400 that I can achieve. If I continue working on this, I'll be losing money on my job.... Do you think thats a good plan? I have a very nice 50 watt radio. We tested it in the shop. It was drawing around 50 on max. I'll show it to you later. I am also Thinking about getting an okay radio for the car like AnyTone AT-778UV so I can just leave the other one for base station.
  20. Right now I'm about to buy coax cable for a base antenna with no more than 50 feet. (I might even shorten this off in the forthcoming days to 38 feet) Anyways I'm debating if I should get this LMR-240 cable or should I go with the 400. The one thing I'm worried about the LMR-400 its such a stiff cable which is worst than the RG8 and it might snap my J-Pole antenna connector. Any takes?
  21. Is this a good cable assembly. I just need 25 feet for LMR-400. My radio draws a real 50 watt and will be hooked up to a Jpole antenna. https://www.hamradio.com/detail.cfm?pid=H0-012001
