  1. I did exactly that and I have a better understanding. Now I know what Cross tone it was looking for. Thanks NobaRubicon
  2. Yeah me, I figured it out. I knew it had to be a Cross tone, but didnt know how to do the Tx side, as I could hear them but they couldn't here me. So I went into my radio, not Chirp, and entered the correct number into DTCS manually.
  3. Man, I am so confused. I have googled till my brain hurts. Can someone explain how this should be entered in Chirp? This is based on the permission to use: Rx 462.7000 pl 151.4 Tx 467.7000 dpl 464 I am having a hard time comparing and understanding PL and DPL terminology to the drop down columns in Chirp. Here is how I entered it, but I don't this it is correct. Thanks for any help. I feel like I am close in understanding some things, but soooo very far away. LOL
  4. It looks like these NOAA channels were not set up as NOAA frequencies so I changed a some of them for my area.
  5. Newbie here. Did a channel scan on my UV-9G and picked up the same group, about 4 or 5 peeps having a group convo, on at least 6 channels including a repeater channel that is not programmed, a DIY channel and even 2 NOAA channels. How is this possible?
  6. Thank you for this. Comms was lacking from my preps and needed to get up to speed. I actually connected and did a radio check to a repeater. Small steps. LOL
  7. Yep, thanks all. I kind of came to the newbe conclusion. So i reset the settings and started over. There is one repeater that has different input and output tones. Do i actually need to input the output tone?
  8. Thank you both. One more question, but this one about Chirp. I programmed 3 repeaters into Chirp. Should I have instead programmed these repeaters into the repeater lines? I think I screwed up.
  9. Hey All, Just joined the group and looking to learn as much as I can. Call sign WRZQ354, just picked up 2 Baofeng UV-9G. Configured a few things in Chirp. This is a little more confusing than I thought it would be, but I am fairly technical and hope to be up to speed soon. I plan on looking at the repeater map here and hopefully find permissions and willing sole for a radio check. One question I do have is when talking just between these 2 radios for family, do I need to program the channel for a tone or squelch or can I do without. I guess if i do use a tone I would want to program each radio with that programmed as a favorite(not sure if that is the right term)???? Glad I found this group. Thanks All Murph
