Sir, I tested on several simplex channels and did not get any transmissions on either channel. Also note that yes,,, I programmed each simplex channel seperately. I have been doing radio ( both c.b. since ‘71 and amateur radio since 2000), so I’m pretty sure that I am doing things right….

Okay guys, I used my hand held on a simplex channel and was able to receive a good clean audio on the MXT400 at about 40 feet, but leaving the hand held at same distance, I got no audio transmitted from the MXT400. This confirms that there is no output from the MXT400. So I have decided to return the radio to Midland for a replacement or repair, since the radio is only 4 months old. Thanks for any and all of the responses. I’ll update the findings whenever I hear back from Midland support. Everett

I am about 3 miles from repeater, and I have a hand held Baofeng BF-F8HP but I do not hear anything from it. The meter lights up like it is receiving but I hear nothing. I do not have an SWRs meter or watt meter for UHF. I’m thinking that the MXT 400 is not transmitting, possibly has blown finals, and was purchased new from Right Channel Radio.

Is anyone else having trouble making contacts on their Midland MXT400? I have had zero responses since I installed my radio in my Wrangler about 2 months ago. I have followed all procedures and instructions to set up repeater channels but can never hear a squelch tail nor can I get any response to a call or radio check. I live in Baton Rouge and we have 3 or 4 repeaters, that I have programmed into radio but zilch on responses. I hear local guys holding QSOs (at least I’m pretty sure they are local) but none of them answers my calls. what am I missing? I’m pretty sure I’m missing something because I never hear a squelch tail like I do with my 2 meter/ 70 cm radios. All tones are correct according to RepeaterBook for Baton Rouge repeaters.
