Correct. I finally figured that out. I drove closer to the repeater and came in load and clear on the copy.

Hold on..after reading some more I think I've figured it out. The repeater has more power so it will reach me and I can hear it but my hand held doesn't have enough power to reach it on the transmission to talk. (1.5 miles away as the crow flies). I just measured via google earth. I'm go drive closer and do a radio check.

If I can hear people talking shouldn't I be in range to talk?

This is exactly what I did and still not able to talk. I can hear all kinds of people talking but I can't get out.

I'm having the same problem. At this time, I'm trying to hit only one repeater that's in my area. I downloaded the radiodditty program software for the GM-30. Looked at putting in the setting for said repeater. Didn't seem like a big deal BUT. I stopped there because best I can tell, I can enter the exact same stuff on the radio itself, which I have. However, I can hear people but I cant talk. Something is not adding up and I can't figure it out. Any help would be much appreciated. Repeater I'm trying for..
