  1. I'm of the opinion that it's good to absorb as much info at the beginning in order to make an informed purchase decision. It is also my experience that 'you get what you pay for'. Me personally I would prefer to spend what I can for quality. And as always, there is enough left for Beer Money!
  2. Received and installed my MXTA26's on both Jeeps and hit 40 miles on a radio check through urban terrain via Lakewood repeater.
  3. I'm located in Parma Heights. I check in a few times a day with a radio check when I am on the road and have found that others are starting to chime in as well. So far with the Lakewood repeater I am able to reach folks in Cleveland, Newburgh Heights, and North Royalton.
  4. I got my GMRS on Feb 29.....It took 2 days......I'm guessing there is a recent avalanche of HAM and GMRS applications that the 1970's vintage government systems cannot handle.....
  5. I find throughout the day folks use all manner of methods of identifying themselves to include just using the last 3 numbers of the call sign as a conversation unfolds....Not having a problem keeping up with chit chat....
  6. Never cheap.......L e s s E x p e n s i v e
  7. Recent image of a group of college interns perfecting my new antenna....Comms will be crystal clear...And I'll be able to shoot down some of those pesky UFO's !. Actually using Midland MXT275's with the stock magnetic antennas, pretty good comms (with repeaters) for my Lady and I....Upgrading to the MXTA26 antennas as soon as they arrive.
  8. Recently acquired 2 Midland MXT275's for our Jeeps, went through the repeater process, and we are now communicating at 10+ miles in Urban terrain....We did not do an in-depth installation as we like the fact that we can easily remove everything as needed. Thanks goes to OffRoaderX/NotaRubicon and all the info that he posts for making the whole thing trouble free!
